XIV. Faculty Awards

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance Faculty and Staff Awards are designed to honor outstanding contributions and achievements made by MTD Faculty and Staff. Each year MTD will sponsor four awards that total $1,000 each and may sponsor additional awards as funding is available.

XIV.a. NOMINATION PROCESS

  1. Faculty and staff annually complete the evaluation process

  2. The School’s Annual Evaluation Committees review materials, and each evaluation committee will forward at least one but no more than three nominations per award to SCOP for review. If more than three are put forward by the committee for an award, the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will receive the nomination. To keep the nominations peer driven, the School Director will only vote to break a tie.

  3. The nominees put forward by the Evaluation Committees should include candidates whose contributions, for that evaluation year, embody the spirit of the award’s description.

  4. The Evaluation Committees will make their final nominations through the annual evaluation voting system.

  5. Candidates will be notified of their nomination and will have the opportunity to accept and share their annual evaluation materials to SCOP. Candidates will also be given the opportunity to submit additional written context. (300 words max)

  6. Self-nominations are not allowed for Evaluation Committee members.

  7. Award recipients are ineligible to be nominated or considered for the same award for the following three evaluation cycles, except the Staff Excellence Award in which they will be ineligible for one evaluation cycle.

XIV.b. SELECTION PROCESS

  1. SCOP will reach out if necessary to the candidates for additional information.

  2. SCOP will review the candidate’s materials and decide, by ranked choice vote, the recipients for the awards with a tie vote going to the School Director.

  3. Members of the SCOP committee who are nominated for an award must abstain from participating in discussions and voting related to the award for which they are nominated.

  4. Once decided, the School Director will present the awards to the faculty at the end of the academic year and to the staff at the end of the calendar year.
