MTD Student Travel Awards
PURPOSE​
The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance recognizes the importance of student participation in research, scholarship, creative activities, and discovery (RSCAD) at regional, national, and international levels. To support these opportunities, the School provides Student Research Travel Awards to assist students in presenting their work at academic conferences, performing at invited events, and engaging in scholarly or creative activities that contribute to their academic and professional development.

ELIGIBILITY​
To be eligible for a Student Research Travel Award, applicants must:

Be currently enrolled in a major or secondary major within the School.

Have received formal acceptance to present or perform at an academic or professional event.

Be traveling to an event located at least 150 miles from Manhattan, KS.
-
Be engaged in individual activities or part of a group of fewer than five students presenting or performing at the event.

Invited showcases

Other significant RSCAD opportunities

APPLICATION PROCESS​
Students must submit their applications to kdavis01@ksu.edu at least 30 days prior to travel, including:

A one-page abstract summarizing the research or creative activity.

A detailed budget outlining anticipated travel expenses.

Proof of acceptance (e.g., invitation letter, event program, or email confirmation from organizers).

AWARD DISTRIBUTION​​

The School allocates student research travel funds to be distributed in two equal periods each year—one beginning January 1 and one beginning July 1.

Awards, ranging from $100 to $250 based on opportunity significance, are given on a first-come, first-served basis until funds run out.

POST-TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS​
​
Recipients must submit documentation to the Budget Fiscal Coordinator of their participation upon return, such as:
